CHILD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Child Development Programme (CDP) statistics for 2008/2009

The Child Development Programme (CDP) budget was subject to significant cuts at the start of the financial year as a result of the financial crisis. In 2008/09 the expenditure of the Programme on project grants in the Foundation's target countries was as follows:

In Syria, all projects remain focused on disability. The other ten projects supported in 2008/09 included no health projects, so expenditure was mainly focused on disability projects, followed by education then risk reduction projects (see chart below). Following the discussion of the CDP five-year review, which took place in 2008/09, the Programme will shift to focus exclusively on working in the fields of disability and education which were found to be most in demand and most suitable to the Foundation’s objectives. The CDP will therefore cease its work in the health and risk reduction sectors starting 2009/2010.
